Listen to the World's Sounds--listen to His Heartbeat
Mon, January 15, 2007 at 05:28AM Little ears, what you hearin'?! Be sure, there are such riveting sounds to hear!
Call the kids around, turn up the speakers, and whirl around the world. Only ears and attentive minds are necessary. Hands are free for other endeavors: our children eat meals while listening, or sketch in artbooks, fold laundry or work away on knitting. Think multi-tasking education! Ears on? Let's go!
First stop: Free Music from around the World. Such sounds and beats, such language and color. It's easy to travel with audio music! It only takes a few moments to introduce your children to other cultures, other peoples, other countries. World Music Profiles features weekly audio interviews and new music from around the world. Travel through the Holy Land with A Child's Geography and listen to the music of Turkey, Egypt, Israel, Iraq, Saudia Arabia and Jordan. Take your homeschool into all the world while children get dressed in the morning, tend to morning chores, or clear off the lunch table. Set their heart on fire for the world! Don't let the Great Commission become your Homeschooling Omission.
Second Stop: Travel the world with classic children's literature or poetry with Librivox, using Windows Media, which will direct stream the audio. Just click, and listen, with no download waiting times. Librivox is a fabulous resource with a growing number of Ambleside selections. Our family has been listening to, among other selections, the free audio download of Our Island Story, exploring the history and geography of the UK. Travel to China with China and the Chinese . Or head out with the explorer Jaques Cartier in The Mariner of St. Malo . Easy on the pocketbook, and a great way to begin the morning---breakfast while listening to Librivox--gives Mama time to turn things around--then narrations when Mama sits down, and then into the morning routine! Go traveling!
Third Stop: We've saved the best audio destination for last: The Daily Audio Bible. Listening to the Bible in audio is a perfect way to soak in the Bible in one year! Perhaps during lunch, everyone can quiet while listening to the day's Bible reading. Feed not only little tummies, but little souls with nourishing food for the heart and mind. His Word truly is sweeter than honey.
Be careful little ears what you hear! Listen to the sounds of the world...listen to His heartbeat.
