What Jeannie Fulbright, Apologia's Elementary Science Series says: "A Child's Geography is exactly what the homeschooling world has been needing to teach geography, using a living book approach that draws in children... I highly recommend this for geography."

"A Child's Geography really IS the best geography guidebook I've seen for the K-6th grade set.  (And I've seen a lot over 10 years of homeschooling!)"
~Holly Johnson, homeschooling mother of 7

"I am always looking for truly excellent, Christ-centered materials.  I appreciate the niche you are filling as I have had a hard time finding a Christian, living-book, geography "text" to use!"
~Carrie Austin www.heartofdakota.com  ~A Cathy Duffy Top 100 Pick

"This is exactly what I have been looking for.  I have tried [two other geography curriculums] but honestly, neither works well with our living book studies.  I find them hard to navigate and the children find them dry.  I think A Child's Geography is wonderful ."
~Cindy McCarthy,  homeschooling mother of 9

Dancing around His Glorious Globe

This post is part of a new series called RESTORING WONDER, a wacky idea dreamed up with a dear homeschooling mama of many....we thought we'd encourage each other to light the spark of wonder and curiosity in our homeschooling days...and were wondering if you'd like to join us? RestoringWonder.jpg

God's world is a place of wonder. Let's kindle awe in our children for our Glorious Creator God and make all of our learning a time of worship, fun, and delight in all that God has done!

Now onto the Wonder!

~~~~~~
Gather your young geographers! We have reserved front row seats just for you on a whirlwind tour of the world!
 Won't you grab your dancing shoes and come praise God for His glorious globe?
(The credits flash a link with an expletive, thus you may prefer to press pause and conclude the journey at the last stop, Seattle, Washington and forgo the credits.)
As you whirl around the world in this video, can you identify the places on the trip that you have already visited in the pages of ACG: Explore the Holy Land? If you can name those Holy Land Locations (don't miss any!) leave us a comment and we'll draw one child's name as our winner and send you a pack of gum! Yes, gum!!
A gum company named STRIDE sponsored the funny-dancing-guy in the around-the-world trip to dance in this video. Matt Harding traveled to a total of 55 countries on all 7 continents! (Can you try to imagine the sights and sounds, memories and stories, of his amazing adventures?! If any young geographers would like to email us a fictional account of some adventures you think Matt may have encountered on his travels, we'll post your story here on the ACG travel blog--and send you a pack of gum! When you see this video, we think your imagination will be brimming with possible tales!)
What were Matt's most memorable experiences while traveling around the world?
Antarctica is one I keep going back to in my head because it really is like going to another planet. It took us 3 days to get there and was just such an unbelievably remote, unusual environment that was filled with life; it was not the dead wasteland that you might think. Along the coastline there are penguins everywhere, there are whales, and there are seals. There’s all kinds of amazing things going on.
In Mulindi, Rawanda, when I started dancing, almost instantly, the kids who were standing nearby, they just watched me and said, “Looks like fun, I’m going to do that too.” And so pretty soon there 5 or 6 kids standing around dancing.
Then all these other kids saw that happening and they thought, “I want to do that too.” So they started flooding in from all directions. So we did that for only five or ten minutes, and by the end, every kid in town was standing there. It was a really amazing moment, where there was this immediate access to joy.
Isn't God breathtaking?
Check back next Friday for another RESTORING WONDER post... with opportunity for you to leave a link to your post on how we can RESTORE WONDER in our learning--not only in geography but in all of our educational explorations!
Your children are going to have so much fun as you dream and pray and cook up some ways to light wonder and curiosity into your learning experiences! We can't wait to hear what you've rustled up!
We look forward to seeing your Restoring Wonder post next Friday!
