What Jeannie Fulbright, Apologia's Elementary Science Series says: "A Child's Geography is exactly what the homeschooling world has been needing to teach geography, using a living book approach that draws in children... I highly recommend this for geography."

"A Child's Geography really IS the best geography guidebook I've seen for the K-6th grade set.  (And I've seen a lot over 10 years of homeschooling!)"
~Holly Johnson, homeschooling mother of 7

"I am always looking for truly excellent, Christ-centered materials.  I appreciate the niche you are filling as I have had a hard time finding a Christian, living-book, geography "text" to use!"

"This is exactly what I have been looking for.  I have tried [two other geography curriculums] but honestly, neither works well with our living book studies.  I find them hard to navigate and the children find them dry.  I think A Child's Geography is wonderful ."
~Cindy McCarthy,  homeschooling mother of 9

How to kindle Curiosity: LOOK IT UP!

RestoringWonder.jpgThis list of How to Kindle Curiosity began in my quiet corner... and continues here...

4. Get into the LOOK UP HABIT!

See dictionaries, atlases, thesauruses, almanacs and encyclopedias as friends. Because when you get into the LOOK IT UP HABIT, you discover the most interesting detours---unexpected, natural learning!

When you are looking up where the Hudson River flows, you notice Hudson Bay to the North, with its own little James Bay, with Thunder Bay to it's south, and Green Bay a tad further south... at nearly the same latitude as Hudson River!

When you look up another word for transparency, you bump into other shimmering, dazzling words: lucidity, pellucidity, diaphanousness... diaphanwhat?  Grab the dictionary and LOOK IT UP!

You do have time to look it up--because it will spark wonder and kindle curiosity, opening the door to whole other worlds of knowledge!

I find that a great part of the information I have was acquired by looking up something and finding something else on the way
